Sports & Remedial

Sports Injury
As people take on board the message of the benefits of a more active lifestyle, we are asked to treat a number of sports related injuries. We treat:-

  • Neck injuries from rugby.
  • Shoulder injuries from swimming.
  • Calf injuries from badminton.
  • Injured knees, cartilage and ligaments from numerous activities.

Tennis elbow and golfers elbow are common complaints. These are similar complaints and our treatment is very effective, relieving the pressure on the muscle attachment. This in combination with a strapping can often avoid the need for cortizone injections.

Sports & Remedial Massage
Sports & Remedial Massage is increasingly being prescribed by healthcare professionals as treatment for illness, injury and pain.
It involves various hand techniques, pressures, mobility exercises and strength and stretching exercises, to manipulate the soft tissue structures of the body.
It can reduce the heart rate, blood pressure, muscular tension and spasms, increase circulation, lymph flow, and flexibility and range of motion, thus helping to relieve pain, and aiding the body in the recovery of injury and traumas.

Reflexology
Reflexology is based on the principle that the feet and hands are a mirror image of the body’s systems. The body has the ability to heal itself.
By applying pressure with specific thumb and finger techniques, the feet and hands will reflect any disturbance in the body’s equilibrium, and help restore a state of balance and well-being.
Reflexology can have a preventive effect as well as being an aid to resolving any acute and cronic conditions, amongst them disorders of the digestive, respiratory, lymphatic, reproductive, nervous system, plus many more.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a relaxing treatment combining the use of essential oils with massage to treat many diverse conditions.
It is particularly effective against physical and emotional ailments, pain in joints and muscles and stress.
The essential oils are readily absorbed by the skin and then carried around the body via the blood.
Massage also speeds up the metabolism helping the body eliminate toxins. The combination of essential oils plus massage can be very powerful when trying to combat the pressures and stresses in today’s world.

Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is a simple, safe and highly beneficial therapy which has been popular throughout the Indian sub-continent for over a thousand years.
Massage of the scalp, face, neck and shoulders, soothes, comforts and re-balances the energy flow to produce a feeling of peace and tranquillity.
It is especially helpful to relive headaches, neck and shoulder tension and sinuses. It is carried out in the sitting position and performed either over the clothes or with clothing removed to expose the shoulders.
