What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which lays its emphasis on the mechanical structure of the body. Treatment methods are all “hands on” aiming to improve the mobility, drain inflammation, or stabilise an area, depending on the program diagnosed. Any problem through the mechanical framework of the body can have a knock on effect on the organs within. Maintaining a healthy framework can improve conditions such as asthma, digestive problems and period pain.

Cranial Osteopathy

This is a refined, subtle treatment which works on the tiny ranges of movement possible between the different bones of the skull. There is normally a rhythmic motion throughout the system, and any restrictions in the framework can create wide-ranging problems. The infant skull naturally has greater mobility, it is prone to more problems but it is also very reactive to treatment.

Typical presenting problems in children would be; colic, glue ear, suckling problems, poor sleep patterns and attention deficit disorder.

Adults also respond very well. Some conditions which could benefit include; headaches, stress, concentration problems, period pain, backache, digestive problems and breathing problems.
